This method provides an incredible amount of detailed information because of the complexity presented by the interaction of the seven planets and the twelve houses. "Electing by the aspects of the Moon is the poor man's version of electional astrology. William Ramesey, whose Astrologie Restored (1653) contains an extremely thorough treatment of elections, sniffily remarked that the method is best suited to people who "have not the capacity to understand or judge the Rules of Art", though he conceded that time pressure sometimes prevents the setting of a proper electional chart.

"The Moon is the fastest moving planet (luminary), and it is used extensively for timing in predictive astrology (in progressions, for example), horary astrology (charting the moment a question is posed), and in electional astrology (choosing the best time to do something, such as start a business). 

"The electional astrology (known also as elective astrology) is the branch of astrology which identifies the most astrologically auspicious moments, the best astral configuration, in order to succeed in life, to have success in all our actions. The timing of the beginning of something new is an important factor which determines its outcome.

"John Partridge, author of "Micropanastron", 1679, {1} is our main reference at this time. Partridge wrote extensively about electional astrology and included 80 aphorisms (special rules) for elections. By following these Aphorisms, he states, you can set up your electional chart. Claudius Dariot’s, "A Brief and most Easy Introduction to the Astrological Judgment of the Stars", 1583, also contains information about elections.{2}
