"Until 1990 there was no organisation representing professional astrologers in the UK. Any profession that wishes to be taken seriously requires a professional body to both represent its members to the public and to whom the public may turn in the case of a complaint against any APAI member. Membership of such a body demands a level of acceptable professional qualification and conduct.

The lack was acutely felt by a group of highly qualified and experienced UK professional astrologers and on February 3rd 1990 the Association of Professional Astrologers International (APAI) came into being.

The Criterion for acceptance for membership of the Assocation of Professional Astrologers International is professional qualifications, in the form of Diplomas (not Certificates), only from the following Schools currently accepted by the APAI"
