Solar Arc Directions
"Solar arc directions are an extremely useful tool for the practicing astrologer. They are a viable alternative to other methods of symbolic movement of the natal chart, such as secondary progressions. Ease and effectiveness of use are two key reasons that I use Solar Arc Directions as my main means of forecasting, along with triggers from transiting planets."

'Unlike Progressions, which compare a set of patterns in the sky during one's lifetime with the situations and issues present during a different period in the life, Directions produce patterns which never exist in the sky during one's life. But, they do provide useful information about the situations and issues during specific periods in the life. The technique of Directions turns the whole chart like a wheel, maintaining the natal angular distances between all the chart factors but adding the same set amount to each of the factors: planets, angles, etc.
- Rationale behind timing in directions -
"We are all familiar with the idea in Primary Directions that 1° of RA is equal to 1 year in the life; and, in Profections, 30° of longitude is equal to 1 year of life; in transits, 1° of longitude is equivalent to one day in the life but what is the basis for these equivalencies? It turns out they are all related to the two ways we measure time: with reference to equinoctial points, tropical motion, and with reference to the backdrop of the fixed stars or sidereal motion."

"In Escape from freedom, social psychologist Erich Fromm suggests that the reason Hitler was so successful in gaining power over people was that he has expressed what the masses felt at the time: "the craving for power over men and the longing for submission to an overwhelmingly strong outside power." Astrologically, this domination/submission instinct is represented by Pluto (which is often associated with sadomasochism.)"
